A Japanese restaurant with Japanese employees! A rarity. I got Katsu Curry Chicken. I love Japanese curry and this did not disappoint. Big portions as well. The food came quickly for lunch. Loved it.

I have been a fan of this restaurant since I knew them as Yakitori Yuchan. The medium-sized space has not changed since I've been here for the past few years; there only seemed to be a less few tables. I went here for dinner on a Thursday night around 5:30PM; I followed the line as usual & admire the specials that they offer daily. Our group ordered these items: -Takoyaki -Orion Draft Lager -Pork Tonkotsu Ramen -Kurobata Roast (special item) -Tuna Poke Don (special item) The miso soup given with the Tuna Poke Don and Kurobata Roast was seasoned well and tested fresh. My friends who had the Kurobata Roast stated that they wish there would have been less fatty meat in the tonkatsu, but they enjoyed the crunchiness and crispiness of the fried tonkatsu. In general, we were fans of all the dishes we chose. I love coming here every so often!

One of the best I have tasted in NorCal region. A good way to try the taste of Eastern Asia, yaki, chicken, squid, etc. Good ambiance, service, and quality of food is consistent throughout my past visits. That is why this restaurant is always full house and retaining customers is key to business success. Will definitely order "Sapporo beru" in my future visit for the full izakaya experience.

It was a great place, clean and comfortable seating. A little on the pricey side but the food was good. Importantly they don't serve peanuts and that helps with food allergy.

We were in Davis looking for a place to eat and stumbled upon Yuchan Shokudo. Based off food alone, the food was great and came out fast! I have been craving chicken katsu curry! It's usually what I love besides sushi when we are in Japan. Wish they had spices on the tables to adjust the spiciness level. The karrage was good, unfortunately , they charge a dollar for sauces on the side. Based on service, our server, who delivered us our food was great and attentive! The only downfall of this getting a 5 star review was the hospitality of when you first arrive through the door. The greeting wasn't there by front staff, probably caught them off guard. Also, the signs of what to do had us distracted, "first order at the bar, then wait to be seated" followed by a lot of menus that we had to look at , which made us feel rushed at the front staff waited for us to order. Overall, great staff and great food!

Great spot for hot Japanese food! Order and pay upon entry. I loved the decor and the service was great! The sweetened iced matcha was sooo good! I ordered the yakisoba and it was tasty. The geso was an easy appetizer to order and the tonkatsu did not disappoint.

Was on an outing in a rainy Sunday with a toddler in tow deciding where to go for lunch. This little one decided he wanted ramen. So we stopped by to check this place out. Not familiar with how their system works, we found out that you order from the counter as soon as you walk in, then they seat you. We had a party of six and were waiting for the other half of our party to arrive. Abrasively, we were ask to step aside and order when our party arrives. That was a bit off-putting. But then, the father and daughter duo came in and said they had a soccer team on their way and they were seated. I was ready to walked back out the door because of that! But the little tyke was determined to have ramen. Well, I'm was glad he did. Patrons were starting to pile in and the place was getting busy fast. So we went back to the counter again and ask if we could order first as the little one was getting hangry! The host obliged and got us seated. He even asked the little one what color cup he wanted for his drink. He totally made up for the unpleasant reception we received at the beginning. The dining experience turned for the better. The food was very tasty! The chicken Kara-age was delicious! The rest of our dishes (Tokyo shoyu ramen, miso ramen, steak special) were very good. Glad we didn't missed out on this delicious meal! We will be back here next time we're in town.

Chicken Katsu donburi? Say less! The takoyaki were good, but man that chicken Katsu donburi stole my heart here. You start by following a line when you enter and looking through their menus. After you order, they'll bring you to a table where you wait for your food. The restaurant was pretty busy when we came and there were only two people working the front, but they did so well it was impressive to watch them multitask helping us and the already seated tables. Onto the food. The takoyaki were delicious but I don't remember much about it because I was so engrossed in the rice bowl. It was filled the to brim and it didn't take me long to get full. As much as I loved it, it still looked like I didn't touch it when I asked for a to go box. So to the staff that might read this, I loved it and it was good, it just looked like I didn't touch it because there was so much. I'd always go here for Japanese food when I'm in Davis.
